Scaling an AR team is one of those things nobody teaches you in school. You figure it out by trial and error — or by asking people who’ve already done it.
So let’s compare notes.
If your company has 1,000+ customers:
- How many people are on your AR/Collections team?
- Do you organize by account size (enterprise vs. SMB), by region, or by aging bucket?
- At what point did you add a dedicated Cash Application person?
- Do you have a collections manager, or does everyone report to the Controller?
I’ve seen everything from 3-person teams handling 2,000 accounts (with heavy automation) to 15-person teams handling 1,500 accounts (with almost no automation). The range is wild.
